Figuring Number of Block in a Wall: assumes std. 8″x16″ block with 3/8″ joint

NUMBER OF BLOCK PER COURSE = (length of wall) x 0.75

NUMBER OF COURSES = (height of wall) x 1.5

NUMBER OF BLOCK IN WALL = ((length of wall) x (height of wall)) x 1.125

Figuring Amount of Cement to Lay Block: assumes std. 8″x16″ block with 3/ 8” joint

MASONRY CEMENT: approximately 35 – 40 Block per bag or 25 bags per 1000 Block

PORTLAND & LIME MIX: approximately 60 Block per mix

   (MIX = 1 bag Portland + 1 bag Lime + 40 shovels Sand)

GROUT: 1 cubic yard will fill approximately 113 8″ hollow block
